40-45 — The musical 40-45 by Studio 100 is about Dirk and Louis, two Rotterdam brothers who find themselves diametrically opposed to each other after the bombing of Rotterdam in May 1940. The story • The bond: Dirk (medical student) and Louis (car mechanic) grow up in a close-knit, loving family and share, among other things, a deep love for films. • The break: After the devastating bombing of Rotterdam, the Second World War breaks open their lives. Due to circumstances and personal choices, the brothers each end up on a different side of the battle (one chooses the resistance side and the other ends up in the pro-German camp). • The impact: The story shows how the choices of the brothers and their loved ones (such as Dirk's fiancée Marie and Louis' bond with Leah) create a deep rift within the family
